TEAM NEWS: TRG Looks for Strong Showing at the New Iowa Speedway

Photo by John Thawley July 9, 2007 - Team TRG expects to deliver a very strong performance this weekend when the Grand-Am Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve visits Iowa Speedway on July 14th for Round 10 of the 2007 schedule.

TRG was less than satisfied with its recent showing in Daytona - especially considering the northern California-based team had posted a two-race win streak and three victories in four races heading into that event.

On the strength of those three races, including wins at Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen and most recently Mid-Ohio, TRG has vaulted into fourth-place in the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex Series team points ranking with 238 - only 17 points out of the lead.

Grand-Am's inaugural visit to Iowa Speedway and the 1.3-mile road course that was designed by NASCAR Champion and ABC/ESPN sports commentator Rusty Wallace offers the perfect venue for TRG to again post strong results and climb further up the championship points' ladder.

"We are extremely excited to be racing at this new venue," said TRG team owner Kevin Buckler. "New venues are opportunities for us to spread the word about the series and our form of racing. The close competition in the Grand-Am Rolex Series will really appeal to the fans here in Iowa. This is a very racing-friendly part of the country and I know after speaking with many of the local people that this event will be a big hit."

"We tested here earlier in the year and the warm welcome we received from the kind people of Iowa was fantastic," Buckler continued. "We're bringing on a new sponsor this weekend and three strong cars, so we are looking forward to a great event."

TRG's three-car lineup for Iowa starts with the 500FastCash Porsche GT3 No. 65 of driver teammates Scott Tucker and Ed Zabinski. Tucker and Zabinski have run several races for TRG and have shown they have what it takes to stay up front. They are quite anxious for a return to competition as electrical issues resulting from a fire during earlier testing at Barber Motorsports Park prevented them from taking the green flag at Daytona.

In the No. 66 CRG/Maxter GT3, the tandem of sports car veterans Andy Lally and RJ Valentine look to regain their winning form in Iowa and not only add to that pair's three-race win total for '07, but also bolster TRG's overall Rolex Series-leading tally of 23 Grand-Am victories.

Rounding out the effort for TRG will be the No. 67 AVIVA Porsche GT3 of Spencer Pumpelly and Bryan Sellers. As a veteran driver for TRG, Pumpelly was a part of the driver trio that claimed victory at Watkins Glen in June. Sellers is new to TRG for '07, but is a former Rolex Series GT-class pole winner. This will be a very competitive car and driver combo.
