TEAM NEWS: HIGHCROFT RACING LEADS THE FIELD EARLY IN UTAH GRAND PRIX

Getting off to a great start, Johansson was clipped from behind on the first lap when, due to the sluggish start of the Porsches, he was completely boxed in. Nevertheless, Johansson climbed steadily throughout his stint, topping out at P1 when he pitted after an hour in the car. "I ran very lean, and concentrated on looking after the tires so I could keep the car in good shape until the end of my stint. I couldn't attack Lowe's Fernandez and Andretti Green as hard as I wanted to early on, but by the beginning of the second hour we had done two or three more laps than the others which brought us into the lead.

After a tire change and refuel, Brabham started his stint in sixth position. Reporting a loud pop during lap 46, Brabs pitted when gearbox problems arose and the car lost gears three through six. After sitting in the pit for 15 laps, David knew he needed just one more lap to complete the 70% of the race necessary to earn team points. Brabs pulled it out and circled the track one last time in the final 10 minutes.

"Of course we're disappointed with the outcome," said Brabs "but we've taken away a lot from this race. We gained a lot of ground considering the amount of track time we lost during practice. The guys did a great job with the set up. Once the car started to hook up during my stint, I felt I could run very quickly; unfortunately, it was at that point that the gearbox acted up. But we got our points and learned a lot from this race. The next challenge is on home turf at Lime Rock so we've got a good one to look forward to."

Team Owner Duncan Dayton focused on the Acura's strong performance early in the race and gave kudos to the team for getting the set up right. The team competes next in the sixth round of the American Le Mans Series at Lime Rock Race Track in Lakeville, CT on July 7th.

The Utah Grand Prix will be broadcast on CBS on Sunday, May 20th at 1:00 pm, EST.
