TEAM NEWS: Farnbacher Loles ready for Homestead

Photo by John Thawley 3.23.07-Homestead, FL The Farnbacher Loles Racing team headed to Miami this week looking to continue the momentum from Mexico. After a fantastic weekend in Mexico City where the team took 2nd and 4th in Rolex GT, optimism is high heading into Saturday’s LINDER INDUSTRIAL KOMATSU GRAND PRIX OF MIAMI 400 K race in Homestead. The way they started things off, it appears the team is serious about the GT Class championship. In the weekend’s opening practice session on Thursday, Leh Keen piloted his no. 85 Shoes For Crews/Recaro Porsche GT3 Cup to second fastest with a scorching 1:21.171 lap. Close on his heels, Bryce Miller turned a lap of 1:21 in the no. 87 Marquis Jet/IPC/Paul Miller Porsche/Recaro Porsche 997 GT3 Cup to grab the 4th fastest time.

The drivers took a few days off before the race to soak up some sun and take in the sights of Miami and the Florida Keys. Meanwhile the crew took advantage of the time to do some final preparation of the cars. Team owner Gregory Loles summed it up. “Everyone on the team is highly focused on this effort. We want to maintain the momentum from the last race but it is extremely important not to take anything for granted. There are a lot of teams in the series who are capable of running at the front. But I’m confident enough in the talent of our drivers and the preparation of our cars that we should be able to challenge for the podium again this weekend. Two of our sponsors, Shoes for Crews and Marquis Jet will be bringing guests to the race. We plan on giving them a lot to cheer about.”

Round 3 of the Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve Linder Industrial Komatsu Grand Prix of Miami will start at 2:00 PM ET on Saturday March 24th 2007. The race can be seen live on SPEED TV, has a time limit of two and a half hours or 400K. Qualifying for the Rolex GT cars is scheduled for Friday March 23rd at 2:20 PM ET.
